- Van Gogh Museum – Dedicated to one of Amsterdam’s most famous sons, the Van Gogh museum contains the largets collection of works by Vincent van Gogh anywhere in the world. In addition to pieces from the famous Dutch painter are works by his friends, contemporaries and artists who influenced and were influenced by him.
- Madame Tussauds – First founded by wax sculptor Marie Tussaud in London in the early 1800’s, Madame Tussauds has become a worldwide attraction, with locations in 14 cities worldwide, including Amsterdam. In this location, right on Dam Square, you’ll rub shoulders with usual retinue of celebrities, athletes and world leaders as well as with a host of famous people who are distinctly Dutch, such as Freddy Heineken, the beer mogul who made the brewery what it is today.
- Artis Zoo – The oldest zoo in the Netherlans, Artis was founded in 1838. Inside it’s historical grounds there is an aquarium, planetarium, a museum and of course all the animals you’d expect from a zoo. Spend a sunny day walking around the grounds and seeing one of their many baby animals the zoo always has new additions, it seems. It’s a perfect place for a picnic as well.
- The Amsterdam Dungeon – More than just a museum, the Amsterdam Dungeon is an interactive historical journey through some of the city’s more gruesome stories. With live actors and interactive effects, the dark side of Amsterdam is brought to life in a journey that culminates with the Reaper: Drop Ride to Doom! - Icebar Amsterdam – The coolest attraction in all of Amsterdam is a pair of bars known as the Icebar. Upon entry, enjoy a cocktail in the lounge before you enter the Icebar.
