  1. Amsterdam Canal Tours – In a city known for having more canals than Venice, the best way to see the city is from the water! Fortunately, you don’t need to bring your own boat. Several companies offer a wide variety of ways to see the city from it’s lowest point.
  2. Rent a Bike – One other way to get around is to take a ride on a classic Dutch vehicle – the bicycle! On a rental bike you’ll zip around town and over canals much faster and cheaper than in a car (which are a distinct minority here anyway)! Amsterdam is one of the most bike-friendly cities in the world, and you’ll experience it firsthand!

The Heineken Experience – More than just your basic brewery tour, Heineken has converted their former brewery at Stadhouderskade 78 into an interactive exhibition on the history of their classic brew. Within the historical building, you’ll see how the beer is made, a history of the brewery, the stable holding their famous horses and take an interactive journey where you experience what it’s like to be brewed as beer! Admission includes a taste in the tasting bar and two free Heinekens in their World Bar!
  4. Van Gogh Museum – Dedicated to one of Amsterdam’s most famous sons, the Van Gogh museum contains the largets collection of works by Vincent van Gogh anywhere in the world. In addition to pieces from the famous Dutch painter are works by his friends, contemporaries and artists who influenced and were influenced by him.
  5. Madame Tussauds – First founded by wax sculptor Marie Tussaud in London in the early 1800’s, Madame Tussauds has become a worldwide attraction, with locations in 14 cities worldwide, including Amsterdam. In this location, right on Dam Square, you’ll rub shoulders with usual retinue of celebrities, athletes and world leaders as well as with a host of famous people who are distinctly Dutch, such as Freddy Heineken, the beer mogul who made the brewery what it is today.
  6. Artis Zoo – The oldest zoo in the Netherlans, Artis was founded in 1838. Inside it’s historical grounds there is an aquarium, planetarium, a museum and of course all the animals you’d expect from a zoo. Spend a sunny day walking around the grounds and seeing one of their many baby animals the zoo always has new additions, it seems. It’s a perfect place for a picnic as well.
  7. The Amsterdam Dungeon – More than just a museum, the Amsterdam Dungeon is an interactive historical journey through some of the city’s more gruesome stories. With live actors and interactive effects, the dark side of Amsterdam is brought to life in a journey that culminates with the Reaper: Drop Ride to Doom! It’s a show, museum and roller coaster all in one!
  8. Icebar Amsterdam – The coolest attraction in all of Amsterdam is a pair of bars known as the Icebar. Upon entry, enjoy a cocktail in the lounge before you enter the Icebar. Inside, you’ll be given warm clothes before spending time in a bar made of 35 tons of ice – including the furniture, walls and art! Admission includes two cocktails served cold – in a glass made of ice.
  9. The Anne Frank House – A museum within the apartments where the famous book was written, the Anne Frank House is dedicated to the memory of a young girl who lost her life during the Holocaust. It’s a solemn, yet historically important attraction, and one of the most popular in Amsterdam.
  10. Eating your way through the city – Amsterdam has a wide variety of culinary experiences to be had, and any visitor to the city should try to sample as many of these distinctly Dutch dishes as they can. How many will you try?
